HC Deb 16 April 1985 vol 77 c128
9. Mr. Jessel

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the annual cost of running St. Mary's hospital, Hampton.

Mr. John Patten

The annual cost of running St. Mary's hospital, Hampton is approximately £276,400.

Mr. Jessel

Are not those costs low in relation to the services that St. Mary's hospital provides, and which are greatly cherished in Hampton? Is my hon. Friend aware that there are strong feelings locally that those services should continue? May I bring a delegation to see him?

Mr. Patten

Those sums of money are low. My hon. Friend has already made me aware, by his powerful private interventions, of the great value set on that hospital by his constituents. Yes, of course, I should be happy to see a delegation led by him.
