§ 3. Mr. Gerald Bowdenasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will now review the membership of those teacher unions in further education, including tertiary colleges, with a view to revising the membership of the Burnham Further Education Committee.
§ Mr. DunnMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has no plans to review the membership of the Burnham Further Education Committee at the present time.
§ Mr. BowdenI am rather disappointed with that answer. Will my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State reconsider the position and re-examine the structure of all Burnham committees to ensure that all teachers are properly and fairly represented on the primary and secondary and further and higher Burnham committees?
§ Mr. DunnI am sorry that I should disappoint my hon. Friend. The last review of the Burnham Further Education 1147 Committee was completed in December 1981 — a relatively recent date — and no strong representations have been made since then about a further review. However, I am sure that my hon. Friend's views have been noted by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State.
