§ 5.4 pm
§ Mr. Laurie Pavitt (Brent, South)On a point of order, Mr. Speaker. You will be aware of the sudden, tragic deaths of three passengers and the hospitalisation of many others after the train disaster at Wembley Central station in my constituency. From time to time and at the convenience of the House, when such incidents occur, an opportunity is given to hon. Members on both sides of the House to offer their condolences to the bereaved and to thank those who assisted. I wonder whether the Secretary of State for Transport or the Leader of the House have been in touch with your Office to propose that a statement is made, which would enable hon. Members on both sides of the House and the Secretary of State to say something about the tragic loss of life in the train disaster at Wembley Central station on 11 October.
§ Mr. SpeakerI fully understand the sentiments expressed by the hon. Gentleman, and I am sure that all hon. Members would wish to express their regret and their sympathy for those who were damaged or killed in this incident. However, I have had no request for a statement. The hon. Gentleman approached me about this matter, and he knows my answer to him.
