HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c1179
Mr. Doug Hoyle (Warrington, North)

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker. I wish to seek your guidance. Has any Member of the House the right to refuse to attend a Select Committee if requested to do so?

Mr. Speaker

I believe that if a Select Committee asks an hon. Member to attend, it is his duty so to do. [Interruption.] If that is not so, I shall take refuge in saying that I should like to look into the matter—[Interruption.] Order. Speakers are not infallible. I shall look into the matter and write to the hon. Gentleman.
