HC Deb 25 June 1984 vol 62 cc720-1

Lords amendment: No. 9, in page 30, line 9, at end insert the accounting year of London Regional Transport current at the expiry of

Mr. Ridley

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.

Mr. Deputy Speaker

'With this it will convenient to discuss also Lords amendments Nos. 10 to 13 and 31 and 32.

Mr. Ridley

These are all minor drafting amendments, and they are all addressed to the same point. If part II were activated, after eight years it would have to be renewed, or it would lapse. It would not be desirable for that to happen half way or three quarters of the way through a financial year. The amendment simply provides that any such lapse or extension will take effect at the end of the accounting year in question.

There are so many "ifs" in my presentation of the amendment, that the Opposition may say that it is so hypothetical that it is unnecessary, but it does tidy up the Bill.

Question put and agreed to.

Lords amendments Nos. 10 to 13 agreed to.
