§ 12. Mr. Wallerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Civil Defence college, Easingwold will be offering courses for the volunteer training officers who will be required to train local authority civil defence volunteers required under the new civil defence regulation 1983.
§ Mr. HurdYes, Sir. The working party on the training of civil defence volunteers is now considering how that should be done, and it will report soon.
§ Mr. WallerDoes my right hon. Friend agree that it is important for volunteers to come forward and to be trained, under the provisions of the 1983 civil defence regulations? If he thinks that it might be helpful for college staff to go into the field to meet volunteers on their own ground, will he encourage them to do so?
§ Mr. HurdThat is an excellent idea, which is put into practice already to some extent. When we have received the working party report, and when a new principal of the college has been appointed, we shall consider how to take the matter further.
