HC Deb 17 February 1984 vol 54 c475 9.34 am
Dr. Oonagh McDonald (Thurrock)

I wish to present the humble petition of the residents of the constituency of Thurrock who are angry and resentful about the Government's decision to cut housing benefits, especially for pensioners, many of whom will from April face a loss of more than £2 a week and, because of the Government's decision, from November face a loss of £3 a week. They call on the Government to reverse their decision to cut housing benefit by £230 million. They pray: that the Hon. Members of the House of Commons shall fully consider the implications of such a severe cut in public expenditure for the pensioners and low paid in our society.

To lie upon the Table.
