§ 10. Rev. Martin Smythasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he intends to publish an updated version of "Civil Defence—The Basic Facts".
§ Mr. Giles ShawYes, Sir. Early next year.
§ Rev. Martin SmythDoes the Minister recognise the need for a range of well-presented and readable books for the guidance of the increasing number of civil defence volunteers?
§ Mr. ShawI do indeed, and it is for that purpose that we are reviewing all the literature connected with civil defence.
§ Mr. LeighWill my hon. Friend be sending copies of the literature to Left-wing authorities, whose refusal to have anything to do with civil defence is a denial of their humanitarian duty to care for all people in peace and war?
§ Mr. ShawI shall be very pleased to do so, and to do more than merely send the literature. We intend to ensure that local authorities respond to the regulations of 1983.
