HC Deb 03 November 1983 vol 47 c985
3. Mr. Colin Shepherd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has yet chosen a new name for the home defence college, Easingwold.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Mr. David Waddington)

The college at Easingwold is now known as the civil defence college.

Mr. Shepherd

Does my hon. and learned Friend agree that that is a far more appropriate name? Will the college be used for training volunteers?

Mr. Waddington

The college is already used by volunteers. In 1982, 546 attended courses there. It is estimated that 700 will go there this year.
