asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he will be giving the Government's reply to the report of the Transport Committee on Transport in London.

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply that I gave earlier today to my hon. Friends the Members for Ilford, South (Mr. Thorne) and for Wellingborough (Mr. Fry).

Mr. Hunt

When can we expect a firm announcement from the Government that London Transport will be removed from the political control of the Greater London council?

Mr. Howell

As I said earlier, the Government are not yet ready to announce their conclusions on this important matter.
