HC Deb 07 March 1983 vol 38 c558
25. Mr. Murphy

asked the right hon. Member for Middlesbrough, as representing the House of Commons Commission, how often the House of Commons Commission meets; and what are the main items for discussion.

Mr. Arthur Bottomley

In the current financial year the Commission has met six times. The matters considered have derived from the Commission's responsibilities for staff and House expenditure, as set out in the House of Commons (Administration) Act 1978.

Mr. Murphy

I thank the right hon. Gentleman for that reply. How can representations be accepted by the Commission from hon. Members and the staff?

Mr. Bottomley

Representations from the staff are made through the Whitley council and the trade unions. Every Member of the House can approach the Commission direct on any matter he wishes to raise with it.
