HC Deb 08 July 1983 vol 45 c511 9.35 am
Mr. Harry Greenway (Ealing, North)

To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. The Humble Petition of residents of Perivale sheweth that the law relating to control of smells emitted by factories is not operating satisfactorily and that this is instanced by its failure to prevent the emission of diabolical smells over a number of years from a local factory in the Perivale area. The smells from the Polak's Frutal Works have been going on over a long period and have now reached a peak of unpleasantness in the eyes of the local population, who have collected 1,000 signatures in a very few hours led by Mrs. Horn and others. Wherefore your Petitioners pray that your Honourable House will urge the Secretary of State for the Environment to ensure that the powers available to local authorities to control the emission of smells are adequate and are enforced.

To lie upon the Table.
