Queen's Recommendation having been signified

Resolved, That, for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to make further provision with respect to the giving of legal aid, and the provision of advice and representation, in criminal cases, it is expedient to authorise—

  1. (a) the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any sums required by the Lord Chancellor for making payments pursuant to provisions for the providing by solicitors in attendance at magistrates' courts of advice and representation in connection with criminal proceedings; and
  2. (b) any increase attributable to that Act in the sums payable out of such moneys under the Legal Aid Act 1974.—[Mr. Thompson.]
