HC Deb 02 July 1982 vol 26 c1170

Lords amendment: No. 13, in page 4, line 31, leave out "such an" and insert "a closing order or such a variation"

Mr. Raison

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.

Mr. Deputy Speaker

With this it will be convenient to take Lords amendments Nos. 14 to 16.

Mr. Raison

Lords amendment No. 13 is a drafting amendment and Lords amendments Nos. 15 and 16 are minor procedural amendments. Where a district council wishes to serve a document by post on the keeper of take-away premises it must send it in a pre-paid registered letter or by the recorded delivery service. This is to ensure that the keeper receives the document and can avail himself of his right to make representations to the council or to appeal to the magistrates court. I hope that the House will accept that this is reasonable in terms of justice.

Question put and agreed to.
