§ 9. Mr. Cockeramasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he proposes to introduce an order to bring the Education Act 1981 fully into force.
§ Dr. BoysonIt remains the Government's intention to implement the main provisions of the Education Act 1981 in the early part of the academic year 1982–83 and to make commencement orders during 1982 for this purpose. One commencement order has already been made bringing section 14 of the Act into force from 5 January this year.
§ Mr. CockeramWill my hon. Friend be issuing further guidance notes to local authorities on this matter? If so, when does he expect to do so?
§ Dr. BoysonWe hope to issue a second circular well before Easter. This will give guidance on the assessment of children with special educational needs, the making of statements on those needs and the arrangements for parental involvement in all those procedures.
