I beg to ask leave, Mr. Deputy Speaker, to present a petition from Mr.James Sillars of 21 Balcarres Court, Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Clerk read the petition, which was as follows: To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of James Sillars, a defender in an adjourned trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, to be resumed on 19th February 1982. Sheweth that correspondence from the Scottish Office, and Government policy towards the Scottish Assembly building are of direct relevance to the main issues in the trial at the Sheriff Court. Wherefore your petitioner prays that leave be given to call as witness the Right Hon. George Younger, M.P., and Malcolm Rifkind, Esquire, M.P., to attend and give evidence, as Ministers, when the trial resumes at 10.30 a.m. on Friday 19th February 1982. And your petitioner, as in duty bound, will ever pary, &c.
