HC Deb 02 April 1982 vol 21 c551 9.35 am
Mr. Leslie Spriggs (St. Helens)

I have the honour, Mr. Deputy Speaker, on behalf of 17,253 citizens of the metropolitan borough of St. Helens, to present a petition. To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of citizens of St. Helens sheweth:— That the people of St. Helens are totally opposed to the opening of a sex shop anywhere within the metropolitan borough of St. Helens Wherefore your Petitioners humbly pray that your Honourable House will take action to impose strict controls on the opening and siting of sex shops, and to require local authorities to take note of the wishes of their electorate in this matter. And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray, etc.

To lie upon the Table.
