§ 17. Mr. Severasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will cause a study to be made of the level of health care in the inner city areas.
§ Dr. VaughanMy right hon. Friend and I share the hon. Gentleman's concern about the level of health care in inner city areas. We are taking a number of steps to try to improve this urgently.
§ Mr. SeverI am grateful for the fact that the Secretary of State is aware of the situation. Will the hon. Gentleman undertake to consider the range of facilities for primary health care in inner city areas when he receives the report of the primary health care study group later in the year, and prevail upon his right hon. Friend and ministerial colleagues to allow him to spend the budget that is needed for primary health care in cities such as Birmingham?
§ Dr. VaughanYes, we are examining the report carefully. The support that we are giving to the London 126 Advisory Group in the redistribution of acute beds in London is aimed at improving primary health care and the geriatric service in London.
