I beg to move amendment No. 1, in page 3, line 16, leave out 'may'.

With this, it is convenient to take Government amendments Nos. 2, 3, 4, 28 and 29.

These amemdments arise out of a point raised in Committee by the hon. Member for Glasgow, Garscadden (Mr. Dewar). They give a measure of guidance to the court in relation to orders apportioning expenditure between the spouses so that their respective ability to pay is not overlooked. The amendments represent a useful improvement to the Bill, and I commend them to the House.
