HC Deb 26 January 1981 vol 997 c636
28. Mr. Freud

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he has plans to extend the distribution of tickets for the Strangers Gallery.

Mr. Pym

No, Sir

Mr. Freud

Does not the Leader of the House accept that the administrative, security, secretarial, catering and domestic staff are as loyal to this House, and are as proud of being here, as the rest of us? Would it be so difficult to play the part of a good employer and occasionally give seats in the Strangers Gallery to members of that staff, even if only once or twice a Session?

Mr. Pym

That would be a matter for consideration by the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee of the Services Committee. As the hon. Gentleman will know, it looked at the allocation of tickets in 1979, and reported that autumn or winter. I shall consider whether the matter can be brought to its attention and discussed.
