§ The Minister of State, Northern Ireland Office (Mr. Michael Alison)I beg to move,
That the draft Weights and Measures (Northern Ireland) Order 1981, which was laid before this House on 13 January, be approved.The purpose of the order is to consolidate the enactments relating to weights and measures. It reproduces the existing laws without change. It may help the House to know that the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills considered the order on 4 February and reported its opinion that it is pure consolidation and that there is no point to which the attention of Parliament should be drawn. I commend it to the House.
