HC Deb 13 April 1981 vol 3 cc123-4

Order for Second Reading read.

11.7 pm

The Solicitor-General (Sir Ian Percival)

I beg to move, That the Bill be now read a Second time.

The Bill consolidates enactments relating to judicial pensions and contains certain technical amendments to the law made pursuant to the recommendations of the Law Commission. It has been scrutinised by the Joint Consolidation Bills Committee, which had no points that it considered ought to be drawn to the attention of Parliament. Nor have I, save that the ease with which we have been able to deal with this Bill and the four that preceded it has been made possible only by the work done by the Committee. It further demonstrates the immense debt that we owe the Committee and which I am happy to acknowledge once again.

Question put and agreed to.

Bill accordingly read a Second time.

Bill committed to a Committee of the whole House.—[Mr. Berry.]

Committee tomorrow.
