§ Q1. Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Prime Minister if she will pay an official visit to Larkhill, Stockport.
§ The Prime Minister (Mrs. Margaret Thatcher)I have at present no plans to do so.
§ Mr. BennettFrom Larkhill the Prime Minister would be able to see four old council estates in Stockport that are in desperate need of modernisation and repair. What advice would she give to the elderly and to those on low incomes living in those houses about how to modernise their homes, in view of the drastic cut back in Government spending on housing and the increasing number of unemployed in the building trade in Stockport?
§ The Prime MinisterWith regard to expenditure on housing, it is for the local authority to determine its priorities. I share the hon. Gentleman's disappointment that after quite a long period of Labour government, he must indicate that position.
