I beg to move amendment No. 185, in page 73, line 35, at end insert 'either that period is a period of not more than six months or'.

With this we may take Government amendment No. 186.

My right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport has received representations about the provisions for interest in this clause as originally drafted. Concern was also expressed in Committee that adequate provision should be made for the payment of interest on new claims. There was a speech on this matter. The amendment rectifies considerable hardship to people who had not been properly contacted about claims that had been made. This has been put right, including the payment of interest.
