Amendments made: No. 75, in page 31, line 18, leave out and 25' and insert '25 and 28'.

No. 76, in page 31, line 19, leave out from 'repeals' to end of line 20 and insert— 'contained in Part II of Schedule 27 to this Act—

  1. (i) of provisions of the General Rate Act 1967, other than the repeals in sections 19, 20 and 30 and Schedule 2;
  2. ii) of paragraph 28(3) of Schedule 2 to the Decimal Currency Act 1969;
  3. (iii) of section 26 of the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 1973; and
  4. (iv) of words in paragraph 4 of Schedule 7 to the Local Government Act 1974.'.

No. 77, in page 31, line 24, at end add— '(1A) Sections 29, 30 and 31 above shall come into operation at the expiration of the period of one month beginning with the day on which this Act is passed. (1B) The following provisions of this Act, namely—

  1. (a) section 22(1) to (3) above;
  2. (b) paragraph 5A of Schedule 26 to this Act; and
  3. (c) the repeals contained in Part II of Schedule 27 to this Act of words in sections 19 and 30 of the 1967 Act,
shall not have effect for any rate period, within the meaning of the 1967 Act, beginning before the first date after the passing of this Act on which new valuation lists come into force under section 68(1) of that Act. (1C) Subject to the foregoing provisions of this section, this Part of this Act and the repeals contained in Part II of Schedule 27 to this Act shall come into force on the day on which this Act is passed.'.—[Mr. Brooke.]
