HC Deb 09 November 1979 vol 973 c789

12.7 pm

Mr. Deputy Speaker (Mr. Richard Crawshaw)

I have a short statement to make to the House. There is an error in today's Order Paper. The Second Reading of the Diseases of Animals (Declaratory Amendment) Bill has been omitted. This Bill should have appeared as No. 12 on today's Order Paper; that is to say, immediately after the Freedom of Information Bill. The Order Paper is being reissued in its correct form and copies placed in the Vote Office. I thought, however, that I should specifically draw the attention of the House to this matter. I take the view that the Member in charge of the Bill should not be disadvantaged by this error, and I should like to thank the hon. Member for Tiverton (Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop) for the manner in which he brought this to our notice. The Bill was properly set down for today and appears for today in the Public Bill list.

Mr. Robin Maxwell-Hyslop (Tiverton)

Further to your statement, Mr. Deputy Speaker. I thank you most warmly for the action that you thought it right to take so that the Bill could follow its normal course, and it would have done if this error had not been made. I am grateful to you and to the authorities of the House.
