HC Deb 25 July 1979 vol 971 c600
Mr. Hooley

On a point of order, Mt Speaker. Six days ago—four sitting days ago—the Leader of the House announced that the Consolidated Fund Bill debate would take place tomorrow. When I inquired half an hour ago, the list of topics for that debate was still not available. It is not reasonable that hon. Members should have less than 24 hours' notice of the topics in that most important debate. Could you arrange Mr. Speaker, that on future occasions we are given more than 24 hours' notice? May I add that I did not make an application in that debate?

Mr. Speaker

I am obliged to the hon. Member for Sheffield, Heeley (Mr. Hooley). Requests had to be in by 9 o'clock or 10 o'clock this morning. If the list is not already up, it is about to be put up. I apologise to hon. Members if they have been kept waiting.
