Yet today, Mr. Speaker, via a written answer to the hon. Member for Havant and Waterloo (Mr. Lloyd), the Government have made an announcement about Meriden which, in effect, will cause it to close and increase joblessness in the West Midlands. What protection do we on the Opposition Benches have when that sort of policy is pursued by the Secretary of State—
