HC Deb 19 June 1978 vol 952 cc170-1

The Lords have agreed to the amendment made by the Commons in page 77, line 32, at end insert: 'a London commission area which is not divided into petty sessional divisions and a petty sessional division of a London commission area.' with the following amendment:

Leave out 'and'

Dr. Summerskill

I beg to move, That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said amendment.

Mr. Deputy Speaker (Sir Myer Galpern)

We shall take at the same time Lords Amendment No. 3, at end insert: 'and the City of London'.

Dr. Summerskill

One of the amendments made in this House changed the definition of "petty sessions area" in Clause 82 so as to bring within that definition petty sessional divisions in the London commission areas. However, we now find that the new definition did not go far enough, as it should also have referred specifically to the City of London. The amendment made in another place adds the City of London to the definition.

Question put and agreed to.
