§ 11. Mr. Hal Millerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services in the light of the continuing refusal of general practitioners in Redditch to Operate a 24-hour casualty service and in view of the 823 lack of facilities at Bromsgrove General Hospital, if he will make a statement on the future of accident and emergency services in that area.
§ Mr. MoyleThe area health authority will be reviewing these casualty services in the light of the survey it is making of existing facilities and the use made of them. A major accident and emergency unit will be included in the plans for the new district general hospital at Red-ditch.
§ Mr. MillerThis survey has now been going on for more than a year. Cannot the Minister give some indication when a casualty service will be resumed in this very important manufacturing area? How does he view other areas where general practitioners are responsible for the provision of these services?
§ Mr. MoyleOn that last point, if the hon. Member will table a Question about it and give me notice, I shall answer it. As for the first part of his supplementary question, the survey will be laid before the area health authority on 16th June.
