§ 4. Sir Raymond Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Wales what proportion of the sum of £320 million intended to be used to conserve energy will be allocated to Wales; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alec JonesThe hon. Member will know that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy is primarily responsible for this programme. About £11 million will be spent in Wales on programmes falling within my right hon. and learned Friend's responsibility; but the total expenditure will be somewhat higher as other Departments will also be responsible for expenditure in Wales.
§ Sir R. GowerCan the Minister say in what part of Wales this will predominantly be deployed?
§ Mr. Alec JonesYes. The money that is being allocated will mean that over the next four years we shall be spending, on average, £1 million on housing, £1.2 million on education and £0.55 million per annum on health. The actual amounts will vary year by year.
