§ 5. Mr. MacCormickasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to tour the islands of Argyll in the coming summer.
§ Mr. Gregor MacKenzieMy right hon. Friend has no plans for such a tour at present.
§ Mr. MacCormickDoes the Minister appreciate that this decision will be regarded by the people in the islands and in Argyll as a tremendous let-down, because the increase in charges amounting to 25 per cent. this summer is aimed directly at the tourist industry? Does he agree that the only way in which we can solve this problem is by having a Scottish Government, and is it not disgraceful that conversations are taking place with Scottish Liberals to bring about some kind of deal tonight?
§ Mr. MacKenzieI am grateful to learn that the hon. Gentleman is anxious that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State should make a tour during this summer. If my right hon. Friend has an opportunity to do so on any visit he makes, I am sure that he will wish to discuss various problems with those concerned.
