§ Mr. SpeakerI have to inform the House that the University of Southampton, my own university, proposes to do me the honour of conferring on me the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws on Friday 8th July. I therefore ask the indulgence of the House and leave of absence to enable me to attend the university for that purpose.
