§ Mr. Arthur DavidsonI beg to move, Amendment No. 20, in page 12, line 33, leave out 'in such form'.
§ Mr. DavidsonThis clause provides, inter alia, that oversea companies which have a place of business in Great Britain shall prepare accounts which comply with the requirements as to the content and form of accounts applicable to United Kingdom companies, subject to any exceptions which may be prescribed. As it is drafted, the clause enables exceptions to be prescribed only in relation to the content of accounts and in relation to their form. This would mean that oversea companies could not be exempted from any requirements as to the form of accounts which may be imposed on United Kingdom companies in the light of the fourth European directive. It would be impractical to expect oversea companies to comply with all these requirements. By moving the words "in such form" to a different position in the clause these amendments will enable exceptions as to the form of accounts to be prescribed for overseas companies.
This is a technical and formal amendment.
