HC Deb 26 July 1976 vol 916 cc16-7
10. Mr. Michael Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received concerning rehabilitation services in South Wales.

Mr. Barry Jones

None recently. I have, however, invited and received comments from interested organisations on the recommendations of the Working Party on Rehabilitation Services in Industrial South Wales.

Mr. Roberts

Does the Minister agree that if the artificial limbs and appliances centre at Cardiff were resited at Rookwood Hospital it would be able to play a great part in such important future developments as biochemical engineering?

Mr. Jones

This is a very important subject and I am glad that the hon. Gentleman has raised it. I have taken note of the working party's recommendation that a new ALAC should be built at Rookwood Hospital. This is under consideration as part of the review of the National Health Service capital programme for Wales as a whole which will be carried out over the coming months. At present I can mention no starting time and no figure.
