asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the future of Normans field Hospital.

Dr. Owen

The Kingston and Richmond Area Health Authority has no plans to change the role of this hospital.

Mr. Jessel

In view of the fire risk in this mental hospital, will the Minister say when the patients on the second floor will be evacuated?

Dr. Owen

The third floor of the building, with which was associated some fire risk, has been evacuated, and replacement beds now planned will enable evacuation of the second floor to take place. I share the hon. Gentleman's concern.
