Mr. Speaker

I have a short statement to make to the House.

On 7th August, I announced to the House the arrangements for considering the Starritt Report on the Security of the Palace of Westminster.

I am glad to say that the following Members have agreed to serve on the small Committee, to be set up jointly with the House of Lords, to examine the Report:

The hon. Member for Bristol, West (Mr. Cooke).

The hon. Member for Croydon, North-East (Mr. Weatherill).

The hon. Member for Glasgow. Spring-burn (Mr. Buchanan).

The hon. Member for Wakefield (Mr. Harrison).

The terms of reference of the Committee, which have been agreed with the House of Lords, will be to consider the review of security at the Palace of Westminster carried out by Sir James Starritt CVO, formerly Deputy Commissioner, Metropolitan Police, and to make recommendations.
