local authority" means the council of a county, Greater London, a district, a London Borough, a parish, a community (in Wales) and a water authority, a new town development corporation, the Common Council of the City of London and a body appointed by the Secretary of State to exercise reserve powers under the Community Land Act 1975I thank the hon. Gentleman sincerely for the long and detailed letter he wrote to me on all the points we raised in Committee. It was kind of him and his advisers. The letter referred particularly to the point raised by the amendment. I am grateful to the hon. Gentleman for the way in which he gave us information after the Committee stage and for the great patience he displayed in Committee. He was faced by a few of us who come up against these things in practice and who must have appeared to be talking a lot of gobbledygook at times. We are grateful to the hon. 1935 Gentleman for his patience and for his response on three very important points.I moved this amendment only to say these few words. Without troubling the Minister, I beg to ask leave to withdraw the amendment.
