Mr. Harold Walker

I beg to move Amendment No. 165, in page 70, line 5, leave out from 'shall' to end of line 6 and insert 'refer the dispute for settlement to the arbitration of—

  1. (a) one or more persons appointed by the Service for that purpose (not being an officer or servant of the Service); or
  2. (b) the Committee.
(2A) Where more than one arbitrator is appointed under subsection (2)(a) above the Service shall appoint one of the arbitrators to act as chairman. '.

With this we are to discuss Amendment No. 166, in page 70, line 5, leave out from 'shall' to end of line 6 and insert 'refer the dispute or settlement to the Committee or, if for any reason the Service considers the Committee inappropriate to settle the dispute, to another arbitrator to be appointed by the Service'. We may also discuss Government Amendment No. 167.
