The Minister of State, Scottish Office (Mr. Bruce Milian)I beg to move,
That the Representation of the People (Scotland) Regulations 1974, a copy of which was laid before this House on 19th March, be approved.These are simply technical regulations which arise because of changes in basic legislation. Regulations 2 and 4 make changes in the references in the 1969 regulations about election rules. They refer to the Scottish Election Rules of 1974 instead of to the old local election rules in the Representation of the People (Scotland) Act 1949. Regulation 3 is a 231 similar technical kind of amendment to existing regulations.
