asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is his intention to introduce a special tax on land and property capital gains.

Dr. Gilbert

I cannot anticipate my right hon. Friend's Budget Statement.

Mr. Latham

If the Chancellor of the Exchequer introduces such a tax next Tuesday as his predecessors have promised, will he give the fullest possible details of it at the earliest practical moment so as to avoid severe confusion in the housing market?

Dr. Gilbert

I am quite sure that my right hon. Friend will take the hon. Gentleman's remarks into account.
