§ The Prime Minister (Mr. Harold Wilson)I have arranged to visit Wales again in the near future, but details have not yet been worked out.
Mr. EvansI congratulate my right hon. Friend on leading the Labour Party in four General Elections and emerging three times as Prime Minister, which must be a unique achievement. When he visits Wales there will be a welcome in the hillsides and in the dales, particularly in the miners' lodges. Does he agree that there has been a great deal of satisfaction with the way in which the miners' justifiable demands have been settled so early by the Government?
§ The Prime MinisterI thank my hon. Friend for what he has said. I am aware, as my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment emphasised yesterday, that in Wales, as indeed in other coalfields, there has been a very welcome rush of recruits to the mines.
§ Rear-Admiral Morgan GilesWhen the Prime Minister visits Wales, will he visit the homes and families of some of the excellent soldiers who come from those parts and ask those families what they think about the levels of pay now being paid to their husbands and sons serving in Ulster?
§ The Prime MinisterService pay is a matter for the review set up by the previous Government. I certainly join the hon. and gallant Gentleman in paying tribute, through the parents or directly, 843 to all those who have served or are serving in Ulster in the most dangerous conditions.
