I should like briefly to give the background to this motion. It restores the entitlement to the London supplement to Members whose constituencies cover broadly the same geographical area as was the case prior to the dissolution, that is, the area covered by the ILEA.

The resolution is required only by virtue of the constituency boundary changes which have taken place within the London area. The rules concerning payment are unaffected by the resolution. The House is asked to approve the motion so that Members representing the constituencies named in the motion may receive payment of the London supplement without any delay.
