§ The Solicitor-General (Sir Michael Havers)I beg to move, That the Bill be now read a Second time.
This is a consolidation measure representing the existing law, as was certified by the Joint Select Committee on 21st November last year when it reported that there was no point to which the attention of Parliament should be drawn.
The first Part of the Bill consolidates Part IV of the Food and Drugs Act 1955, the provisions in Parts V and VI so far as they relate to slaughterhouses and knackers' yards, and also the provisions of the Slaughterhouses Act 1958.
