§ Mr. AshtonIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that this method of signalling is already used by about 90 per cent. of drivers? Therefore, should it not be made official in some form to avoid a lot of confusion? As it is now a widespread practice, why not authorise it?
§ Mr. PeytonI believe that it would be difficult to draw up a sensible, easily understood code that people would be willing to practise—[Interruption.]—I am obliged to the hon. Gentleman for his interruption, which I am glad to say I could not hear. This point has been carefully considered. On the whole, I do not believe that a welter of bureaucratic advice would be very helpful.
