HC Deb 16 May 1973 vol 856 c1491
11. Mr. Moyle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he proposes to take a decision on the construction of the Fleet Line to Lewisham.

Mr. Rippon

After we have seen the London Rail Study's report.

Mr. Moyle

Will the right hon. and learned Gentleman bear in mind that the Fleet Line is an essential part of a decent public transport system in south-east London and Lewisham and that as we are not now to have Ringway I people will expect the Government to devote all the released resources to building the Fleet Line?

Mr. Rippon

All the various factors will be taken into account. Stages 2 and 3 of the Fleet Line, including all the options, were discussed in the dockland study, but, as the team said, it is not an essential part of the study. It would be wise to await the report of the study.
