HC Deb 07 May 1973 vol 856 c173

Order for Second Reading read.

10.13 p.m.

The Solicitor-General (Sir Michael Havers)

I beg to move, That the Bill be now read a Second time.

It is purely a consolidation Bill which consolidates the Sound Broadcasting Acts 1964 and 1972 and certain other enactments related to commercial television and local sound broadcasting services. The Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills has made certain amendments which it considered necessary to improve the form of the Bill and to bring it into conformity with the existing law. It considered that the Bill as amended is a pure consolidation Bill and therefore in its present form there is no point to which the attention of Parliament should be drawn.

Question put and agreed to.

Bill accordingly read a Second time.

Bill committed to a Committee of the whole House.—[Mr. Kenneth Clarke.]

Bill immediately considered in Committee; reported, without amendment.

Motion made, and Question, That the Bill be now read the Third time, put forthwith pursuant to Standing Order No. 56 (Third Reading), and agreed to.

Bill accordingly read the Third time and passed, without amendment.
