§ Mr. SpeakerThere are two Standing Order No. 9 applications. However the time for statements is customarily before such matters are considered, and I propose to make a statement myself about the Consolidated Fund (No. 3) Bill.
For the debate on Thursday, 22nd March on the Second Reading of the Consolidated Fund (No. 3) Bill, hon. Members may hand into my office by 9.30 in the morning of Wednesday, 21st March their names and the topics which they wish to raise. The ballot will be carried out as on the last occasion. An hon. Member may hand in only his own name and one topic.
The Consolidated Fund (No. 3) Bill includes the Defence Vote on Account for the Financial Year 1973–74, House of Commons Paper No. 113; certain Civil Supplementary Estimates for the current year set out in House of Commons Papers Nos. 78 and 166; certain Defence Supplementary Estimates for the current year contained in House of Commons Papers Nos. 77 and 165; and certain Civil and Defence Excesses for 1971–72, contained in House of Commons Paper No. 183. It will be in order on the Second Reading of the Bill to raise topics falling within the ambit of the expenditure proposed in these papers.
I shall put out the result of the ballot later on Wednesday, 21st March.
