HC Deb 07 March 1973 vol 852 cc403-4
25. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will order a public inquiry, with wide terms of reference, into the proposed Bridport bypass, in view of the local opposition from many quarters.

Mr. Peyton

Yes, Sir.

Mr. Wingfield Digby

May I thank my right hon. Friend for that welcome decision? Since the borough council, the rural district council and the National Farmers' Union have all come out against this scheme, will he ensure that the widest terms of reference are given to the inquiry?

Mr. Peyton

Yes, Sir; I give that unqualified assurance to my hon. Friend.
