HC Deb 05 March 1973 vol 852 c1
Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

I beg to ask leave to present a petition signed by over 11,000 of the people of Bexhill-on-Sea. The petition has been organised by Mrs. Joyce Alexander, a Member of the Excellent Order of the British Empire, a freeman of the borough and chairman of the Council of Social Services of Bexhill.

Containing as it does the signatures of almost one-third of the population of Bexhill, the petition shows how keenly the people of Bexhill feel about this matter and how they regard their hospital as a refuge and present help in time of trouble.

The petition ends: Wherefore your Petitioners pray that Parliament will take note of the widespread protest, and unanimity of feeling, throughout Bexhill against the closure of the hospital's first aid department, and that the Department of Health and Social Security be asked to reconsider the matter. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

To lie upon the Table.
